Hi! My name is Sam Cohen and I'm a senior at the University of Maryland studying Communication. I am currently the visuals intern for NorthJersey.com and the photo editor for The Diamondback, UMD's student-run newspaper.
Previously, I've worked on Capitol Hill for Capital News Service and as a staff photographer at AFTER Magazine.
Photography has always been my passion, as my craft allows me to connect with so many different people in various ways – my subjects through the act of photography and my audience through sharing pictures. I enjoy covering human interest stories as well as events, sports and portraits. Regardless of what I am covering, I find true meaning in photography. I love the journey of meeting my subjects, getting to know them, and feeling that my work truly represents my subject. I also love meeting new people and getting to be a part of their lives for a little bit – it makes this big world feel smaller.
